Shea Rowing Center

The Shea Rowing Center serves as the home of Princeton University Rowing, offering world-class facilities designed to elevate athletes to their highest potential. Overlooking the serene waters of Lake Carnegie, this state-of-the-art training center provides an ideal environment for rowers to develop their strength, technique, and teamwork. Equipped with cutting-edge rowing tanks, top-tier ergometers, and a meticulously maintained fleet of shells, Shea ensures that Princeton rowers have every resource they need to compete at the highest levels.

Beyond its impressive amenities, Shea Rowing Center fosters a culture of excellence that continuously builds upon our proud tradition. Our home facility has produced both men’s and women’s Ivy League and national championship crews, Olympic medalists and champions in the most prestigious international events. It is where talented rowers enter, exceptional teams develop, and the unmatched legacy of Princeton Rowing grows.

The boathouse—named after C. Bernard Shea 1916, and donated by his wife, the late Irene C. Shea—underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2000. The facility replaced the Princeton University Boathouse, which had served the rowing program for much of the 20th century.
